My name is Sanchez and I am the founder of Roots & Play. I started my business after almost two decades of working in the Education system and seeing the lack of diverse resources aimed at children from black and mixed background in the UK.

I decided that I would make a change and created my own educational, cultural toys for children.

As a brand, Roots & Play aims to positively impact children of all races to celebrate our cultural differences and create a sense a pride across our communities.
Research shows that positive representation in childhood is crucial in developing positive self-identity, building confidence, breaking stereotypes, promoting inclusivity and inspiring children to achieve and succeed.
As a mixed heritage woman, mum and educator - I personally understand the profound impact that positive representation can have on a person especially children.

I have dedicated many years to studying and understanding children; with an Undergraduate degree in Education & Psychology, a Masters degree in Education Practice and a PGCE in Primary Education. Now, my combined experience of my background and my extensive experience within the educational system has helped me to build a brand that not only celebrates diversity but also supports learning in a fun and dynamic way.
My goal is for Roots & Play products to be used in family homes, schools, nurseries and educational settings across the UK and beyond supporting families and educators in creating a positive environment where culture is positively represented and understood by all.
