I first came across Root and Play while scrolling on TikTok, and something deeply stirred in me to make the purchase. Although I don’t have children yet, it’s a heartfelt desire of mine,and these cards became the fourth item I bought in faith, as part of preparing for my future family.

When the cards arrived, I opened them with a sense of awe and emotion. Seeing the vibrant representation of African and Caribbean culture brought tears to my eyes. I thought, “One day, I’ll get to use these with my children.” For now, I’m holding onto them as part of that vision, and I know they’ll play a special role in affirming identity, culture, and learning in the most beautiful way when the time comes.

Although I haven’t used the cards practically yet, I’ve shared them with people I know who do have children—and I’m cheering you on every step of the way. Thank you for creating something so meaningful and affirming. I hope to return with another review one day, when my little ones are actually playing with them.

Highly recommend for children in nurseries and schools!

I bought these cards for my mother who was born 88 years ago in Jamaica. She is in the early to mid stages of dementia and having images of food that she remembers from back home makes the card games more fun.
